On Saying Goodbye

I see you, standing by the gate
examining your ticket, my
heart stops, blood fills my ears

call your name, you freeze,
turn to face me, your eyes light
up, make my heart race, soar

I hurry towards you,
a grin so wide my face aches,
hand you the roses, love

This is my final poem for NaHaiWriMo.

I used a prompt from their FaceBook page – AIRPORT.

I am in the process of compiling the Haiku into an ebook to go on sale tomorrow.

The Dreamer

wide open heart, free, full
of love, hopes for future,
full of life, promise

flying high, soaring, new
life awaits, fresh hopes, dreams
of a brand new day

This is my effort today for NaHaiWriMo.

I did not use any prompt and the haiku came to me on it’s own.

Tomorrow is the last day of NaHaiWriMo. In March I will be writing  100-word story every day. The stories will be different and don’t have a linked theme or anything. I plan to publish them as a collection on the 1 April. The haiku written this month will be released as a collection on 1 March.

Blue-Eyed Girl

heavy head, unseen weight
pinning her down, stiff limbs, like
blocks of cement, stone

she can’t breathe, trapped in
thick tar, suffocating, claw
at her throat, panic

sadness in her heart,
tears fall in the dark, light hurts her
deathly pale skin, leave scars

This is my effort today for NaHaiWriMo.

I didn;t use the prompt on their FaceBook page (BUDDHA) because nothing came to me. This haiku reflects how I’ve been feeling recently.

Our Life, Apart

we need to find a way
to not be together, to move
on, to start to heal

our love is over,
time to build our own lives,
without each other

you’re not my knight, I won’t
need you to save me, we’ll become like
familiar strangers

Out With The Old

heard you had a new
love, someone shiny & whole, no scars,
not in pieces like me

you once told me how much
you loved my broken parts, my scars
showed I’d lived

remember nights when
we’d cuddle in bed, you touched
my wounded bits, loved me

you told pretty lies, said
you’d never hurt me, love me always,
but you tore me apart

The Last Leaf Of Autumn

brown, brittle, crumbles
like ash in my fingers, last breath,
dying like our great love

This is my effort today for NaHaiWriMo.

I used the prompt for their facebook page – LEAF.

I want to release a collection of the haiku’s written this month on the 1st March. I better start thinking about compiling it, writing the blurb and designing the cover.

20 Signs Things Are NOT Okay ANNOUNCEMENT

So it’s official, my book 20 Signs Things Are NOT Okay (Poems) is available to pre-order from Amazon. The price is £1.99 and the book will be released on the 1 March.

The book is £1.99 / $2.50 or FREE via Kindle Unlimited and Prime.

This is a sequence of poems written over a few weeks which explore a woman’s descent into alcoholism as her life and drink habits spiral out of control.

The link above will direct to the correct Amazon site where you live.

The book is short so I don’t plan on releasing a paperback version. Not at the moment anyway.

BLURB: Joanne likes to go out drinking and have a good time. Since the love of her life left her for someone younger and prettier she goes out a lot more and drinks a lot more. Time passes and she realises she’s not in a good place. She likes drinking a bit too much and struggles to remember the exact sequence of events when she’s been on a binge. The poems in this collection explore her gradual descent into depression and binge drinking and the signs something is very wrong in her world.

You can claim a free copy of the book until launch date via InstaFreebie here.

Happy Launch Day To Me Pt. 2

My book, 100 Words About Love (Stories) is on sale from today.

They are also FREE with Kindle Unlimited and Prime via the Kindle Owner’s Lending Library.

This book was also part of an InstaFreebie Giveaway which has now ended. A couple of copies were claimed so hopefully, this will lead to some reviews.

Nobody has bought or borrowed my releases from yesterday. I knew nothing was going to happen overnight but I can’t help feeling a little twinge of disappointment. All I can do is have my titles available and promote and advertise them.

I just need to keep plugging away and if I believe enough in myself and my work something will happen.

Love is a universal emotion that everyone feels at some point and can take many forms. In ‘Deep & Lowdown’ a woman feels her baby kick for the first time when her lover abandons her. In ‘The Old Woman Who Lives Down The Lane’, a young girl carries out an act of kindness for a neighbour. In ‘To Miss, With Love’, a young boy finds a way to express his crush on a teacher. In ‘What Sisters Are For’, a teenage girl helps her younger sister deal with a life-changing situation. These stories and the rest in this collection explore the idea of love and what it means for different people in different situations.

The book can be bought/borrowed here.
