My Little Eye

One look is all it
can take to tear
your world apart,
shred all you know
to pieces and make
the ground beneath
you shake.

I saw you with him.

You had no idea I
was even there, too wrapped
up in his fudge eyes, lost
in that too-sexy smile.

From a distance, you
looked like any other couple,
sharing a romantic meal
in the window seat, gazing
into each other’s eyes
while pretending to look
at the menu.

I’m the only one who
knows what was wrong
with the picture, that someone
else should be by your side.

I watched you, smile
and flirt with him, play the
shy girl, bat your lashes
and fall in love.

I watched, burning in
agony as you
steam-rolled
right over my heart.

THE END
