25 Things About Me

  1. I have an intense phobia about people dressed up as animals of other mascots. I feel my phobia is completely rational. It’s people who see a six feet squirrel and don’t run screaming in the opposite direction who have an issue
  2. I am absolutely terrified of spiders, of any shape, size and colour. Even red money spiders that harmless and like the size of a grain of salt make my flesh crawl. I cannot deal with them. I was scarred for life by the movie Arachnophobia. What kind of sick puppy made that?
  3. I am terrified of wolves. I cannot watch movies with them in it or read books that feature wolves.
  4. When I was 12 years old I was kicked in the stomach by a horse. The house where I grew up is directly opposite fields and a farm. The farmer kept horses that were really friendly. I used to talk to them and pet them all the time. One day my friend thought it would be funny to pretend to charge the horses, screaming and shouting. One horse panicked and kicked me in the stomach so hard it knocked me across the field. I’ve never felt pain like it in my life. My stomach was purple with a massive bruise that took months to go. I never spoke to my ‘friend’ again and was too scared to go near the horses
  5. I love to walk in the rain. I don’t mind how heavy it is. I love the feeling of rain slamming into my face and pretty much any part of me. It soothes me
  6. I hate the winter; or rather I hate the snow and ice. I don’t mind being in the house when it’s snowing or there’s ice in the ground. However, I walk to work and hate doing it when it’s snowing and icy. I have a history of taking bad falls. There could be one patch of ice in the whole of Scotland and I’d find it, stand on it and end up flat on my back. About six years ago I took a bad fall because someone in the flat above had thrown boiling water out to melt the snow. It had frozen to black ice the next day. It was dark when I left the house to go to work and I didn’t see it so went down like a ton of bricks. I was going to hit my skull against the kerb and throw all my weight onto my right leg which resulted in badly damaging all of the tendons in my foot. The foot was bruised for months and I was in agony. My doctor gave me anti-inflammatories for months and I could only wear trainers. The fall was in November and the foot didn’t fully heal until I went to Paris with my partner in August. Paris was really hot and I had to wear sandals and the heat seemed to heal my foot. To this day, I suffer pain in the same foot if I overdo it
  7. I love the taste and smell of strawberries. I could eat strawberry yoghurt until it was coming out of my ears. Hell, I would probably eat hand cream if it was strawberry scented
  8. I love the smell of cinnamon, especially when it’s coming from something baking like bread. I drool
  9. My partner and I have a set of three authentic Samurai swords as an ornament in the living room window of our flat. One of them is eighteen inches long. The blades are razor-sharp and could cut someone in two. That’s home security taken care of
  10. I’m allergic to cats. I can’t stand to be around them. I start to feel itchy and claw at myself. Cats love me though and like nothing more than wrapping themselves around my face
  11. I’m allergic to mohair. When I was about sixteen my mum got me a mohair cardigan for Christmas. I’d never worn mohair before. I put it on and my skin immediately broke out in red welts and white lumps. The itch was so bad I could happily have peeled my skin off. Mum throw the cardigan in the bin but it took takes for the welts and lumps to disappear
  12. I can 100% touch type. I don’t even need to glance at my keyboard
  13. If I remember a dream it comes true. Seriously. This is actually a proven fact. I never remember what I dream. Doesn’t that make me a psychopath or something? Anyway, every time I remember something I dreamed about it’s actually happened. For example, when I was 14 I dreamt a black car chased me and my friend when we were at a railway line near our house. A few weeks later and we were walking past the railway line to visit another friend and a black car started to chase after us. We never saw who was driving. We just ran screaming until we reached out friend’s house. 100% true story
  14. I’m a bibliophile. That’s not as pornographic as it sounds. I love books. I love to read and collect books. I have four bookcases at home crammed with books and a massive library on my Kobo and Kindle. I would be quite happy to just sit and read all day if I didn’t need to pee and eat and work to pay for luxuries like heating
  15. I love Paris. I absolutely adore the city. I went to Paris for a week with my partner in 2010 for our 5th Anniversary and it was the best holiday I’ve ever had. I loved the food, the culture, the sights and sounds. I’m a patriotic Scot and love my country but if I could like anywhere else in the world it would be Paris
  16. My favourite foods: steak, strawberries, scotch pie with beans and chips
  17. My favourite colour is purple; all shades and variations and I have a particular fondness for lilac
  18. I’ve never broken a bone or hand stitches
  19. I prefer to be indoors. There’s a big scary world outside and I prefer to avoid reality whenever possible
  20. I’m a Harry Potter fangirl. I’ve got all the books in my collection and have read them at least five times each. I also have all the movies on DVD and have seen them about ten times each
  21. I’m a total Games of Thrones freak. I read the books last year and fell madly in love. I bought the DVD’s soon after and fell a little deeper in love. A couple of weeks ago I bought season 5 as a digital download from Amazon and watched the whole thing in one sitting with my partner who is also a Games of Thrones freak
  22. I collect teddy bears. I have like 150 in different sizes
  23. I can’t swim and have no desire to do so. I have an intense fear of the water and drowning and being submerged in things
  24. In The Company of Wolves in the scariest movie I’ve ever seen. This may have triggered my wolf fear. I had nightmares for weeks when I first saw it as a teenager. I tried to watch it a couple of years ago and couldn’t. The scariest scene is when the wedding party are turned into wolves. WTF? I screamed at that scene and hid behind the couch
  25. I like to act like I’m a tough bitch but I’m not really. I cry at the drop of a hat. I turn into a weeping baby over books, movies and TV shows. Even happy things make me wail. At the extreme other side of the spectrum I’m also quick tempered
